HCG Diet Day 6

Well the last two day were not much fun. I would have that "I'm fine" feeling in the morning, but in the afternoon and at night I would get some pretty bad headaches. Usually when I ate something, they went away. I've also found that mint lemonade is pretty darn good (with Stevia instead of sugar).
I did have times when I felt pretty lethargic and today I am a little worried that I had to eat a chicken breast from a restaurant. I don't know what kind of chicken breast it is and if it is going to cause me to gain a pound by the time I wake up tomorrow.
On the bright side I have lost 10 pounds but I also wish I were already done. I also went to workout today and thought I was going to die, but I didn't. Hopefully tomorrow's workout will be easier.

HCG Diet Day 4

Well, yesterday as I was eating chard (I found it's easier to eat if you eat it with an orange) I was keeping mind the fact that I could lose a couple of pounds on my first very low calorie diet (VLCD) day. I also made myself some lemonade with stevia and it was REALLY good. I felt really full after drinking two glasses right before bed. I was also amazed how good a ground beef patty can be with raw spinach.
Anyway, that isn't what I really wanted to say. What I really wanted to say is that I woke up very excited this morning hoping to see that I had lost about five pounds (aim high, right?). I know this was a ridiculous goal, but I figured if I set ridiculous goals and I get halfway there, I'm still in pretty good shape.
I went to the restroom as instructed and weighed myself. Yesterday I was 238.
This morning I was 234!
That is freaking COOL! Then I gave myself my morning injection and went on my merry way.
Wow, this kale is sooo delicious. Tastes way better than obesity.

HCG Diet Part 2

I enjoyed my weekend by gorging myself on food. The book that came with my HCG indicated that I would probably gain a pound or two on these days. I did gain one pound (putting me at 238) and my weight loss will be measured from this point on. Today, I begin the 500 calorie process. Before I get in that, I do want to mention that I was struck by reality and measured myself. REAL measurement, with my abdominals relaxed. Here they are (in inches):

Date 2/5/10
Weight 237 (How did I let this happen to myself?)
Chest 52 3/4
Waist 51 1/4 (Shoot, scratch that, harpoon me)
Hips 47
Left arm 15
Right arm 16
Left Calf 17 1/2
Right Calf 17
Left Thigh 28 1/2
Right Thigh 28 1/2 (hooray for symmetry)
Left Ankle 9 3/4
Right Ankle 9 7/8
Neck 16

So there you go. My REAL weight and measurements. If I paint a very grim picture, that means I'm more motivated.
Back to the diet. There is small menu of items I can eat, steak (VERY lean steak), chicken breast (with the fat trimmed off of it), a short list of vegetables and fruits and grissini breaksticks or melba toast. I can use spices, as much as a want, but nothing oily or with oils in it. Not even moisturizers or shampoo because the HCG will burn those fats instead of the ones in my body. It even says not to use deodorants with aluminum, but I just can't do that because my pits get stinky.
I have experienced a little bit of nausea in the mornings after my injections, at least until I eat something.
Well that's all for now, we'll see how it goes.

HCG Diet Journal

A member of our staff recently decided to give the HCG Diet a try. It is a diet where you inject yourself with a hormone (produced by pregnant women which will cause your body to burn an additional 2000 calories of fat a day (if followed EXACTLY). The diet works by resetting your hypothalamus to recognize your weight, after having lost some, as its new weight. Again this requires following a very specific eating plan, even after you're done with the diet. If you deviate from it IN ANY WAY, it does not work. This diet requires ALOT OF DISCIPLINE. If you can't do that, don't waste your money. Also, there are two forms, one is taken orally, the other is injected. Our staff member will be taking the injections.
My first day was meeting with the Deb at the Anti-Aging Institute of Arizona. She says she prefers to be the person who instructs people as to how to follow the diet because she is the most strict person at the office about it. She don't play when it comes to instructing patients using the HCG Diet. She goes over certain things about the diet, how to initially mix the dry HCG with the fluid (to "activate" it), what to eat, how to eat, what will cause the diet to not work. She also gives me her personal cellphone number so that I can call her if I have any questions. Most places with have you meet with someone at their office at certain intervals, but she says she prefers to have patients call, text or email her whenever they want. This method saves the patient money by not having to pay for office visits until they have finished their round of injections. They also gave me an wire-bound instruction book. I was instructed to start the diet only after having first read the instruction book, which explains how the diet works and what will cause it to not work. I did read it first and learned quite a bit about how the HCG works within the human body.
This morning I woke, passed urine, weighed myself and then mixed the two solutions and gave myself my first injection. This was all required as a morning routine when following the diet. The doctors office weighed me yesterday at 243. My scale shows 237, first thing in the morning (I think I like my scale better). I had to psych myself out to give myself the first injection since I'm not a really big fan of getting them and doing it myself wasn't exactly my idea of a good time, It took three false starts before I did it and was very happy with myself when the syringe was attached to a very fatty area of my abdomen. Now it was time to inject the liquid. Ugh. I knew I could do it. I gave the stopper (injector?) a push and felt the liquid burn a little. I waited a few seconds and tried some more and it burned a little less and the pushed the rest of it in. I can do this (every day).
For the first two days I am able to eat all the really fatty foods I want. The diet requires it to get that unneeded fat to start circulating in my blood stream so that it recognizes the fat it will be devouring. If this does not take place, it will take longer for fat loss to begin (about a week, if I read correctly). Monday I will begin the required eating plan, which includes almost no wheat, only five kinds of fruit and a few kinds of meat (organic is preferred) and about 5-10 kinds of vegetables. I can also have tea and coffee. I'm not a coffee drinker, so tea it is. I am also required to drink half my body weight in ounces of water or more every day.
Let the fun begin.

Help 100 Eastern European Athletes go to the Gay Games

The VIII Gay Games Cologne 2010 have set a target of making it possible for 100 people from Eastern European countries to take part in the Games. With your donation you will be helping to provide these men and women with a week filled with ‘joie de vivre’ (“love of life”) and cordiality in Cologne.

Get involved, and support the Outreach Programme for the Cologne Gay Games. By doing so, you will be contributing to these men and women gathering some strength and hope – in the quest for more rights in their homeland and in the development of their own gay-lesbian sports scene.

Men and women are still suffering from discrimination on account of their sexuality. Their daily life is characterised by exclusion, ostracism, and persecution. Living with your lesbian or gay partner openly is, in many countries, definitely not without risk. Sport in a lesbian-gay club can, if at all, only take place covertly. Cast out by family and in the workplace, ostracised in public life and with a covert private life, there’s often no energy left to battle for equality and acceptance.

Added to this is that many gays and lesbians have very limited financial means. Combining this with feelings of inferiority and inadequate networking amongst lesbians and gay men, taking part in the Gay Games is a real challenge. A Gay Games experience can change a person’s life forever. You already know that “Gay Games change the world.” Please now help us change the world for others

In less than 200 days Cologne’s Rhein-EnergieStadium will be the setting for the opening ceremony of the Gay Games VIII. No doubt you are looking forward to this fantastic event.

More than 12,000 people from over 70 nations will be coming to Cologne to experience a wonderful week, with exhilarating competitions and dazzling cultural events.
You’ll be in the thick of things – celebrating sporting success with your team and going out on the scene, with pride, having a great time.

What may sound so customary to you, however, isn’t the norm for all lesbians and gay men.

Your donation is crucial – whether it’s 10, 20, 50, or even 100 Euro – every Euro counts.

Please transfer the amount to our donations account, marked "Spende Outreach"

5,000 Now Registered for 2010 Gay Games in Cologne

49 Countries Already Represented with Germans and Americans Leading the Count

Cologne, Germany - The organizers of the 2010 Gay Games in Cologne, Germany, have reported that 5,000 people have already signed up to participate in the quadrennial sports & cultural event that will take place in Germany’s self-proclaimed “gay capital” July 31 to August 7, 2010.

“With 5,000 registered participants, we are far ahead of our forecast of 2,500 for New Years Eve,” said Annette Wachter, Co-President of Games Cologne. “Taking the credit crunch into consideration, this is a fantastic result and we are looking positively ahead to this coming July and August.”

Contingency Expansion Plans

Since the 1994 Gay Games in New York, the event has consistently drawn about 12,000 participants from around the globe. Because of the weak world-wide economy, Cologne’s team had established scenarios for a break-even Gay Games with as few as 8,000 paid participants, but Wachter and her team are now establishing contingency plans for the possibility of more than 12,000. The last time the Gay Games were in Europe was 1998 in Amsterdam, which was also the largest Gay Games ever with more than 14,000 participants.

The Gay Games have been held every four years since 1982 and were last held in Chicago in 2006 (11,700 participants). The 2010 Gay Games will feature 35 sports and 5 cultural events for registrants, with Bridge, competitive Cheerleading and Country Line Dancing being recent additions to the roster of more traditional events such as Marathon, Basketball, and Tennis.

Germany and USA Lead Totals

Registrations have come from all over the world including countries like Japan, Afghanistan, and Madagascar. There are already 49 countries represented with the largest contingents so far coming from the United States and host country Germany. The largest sports by registration are currently swimming, football (soccer) and volleyball.

Local Partners

Cologne Sports Coordinator Dagmar Ziege is in particular happy about the huge demand for football (soccer). An avid soccer player herself, Ziege is the chief organizer of all sports competitions. “To be feasible, the Gay Games needs strong partners. I want to express my appreciation towards the City Council of Cologne, especially the sports department, the Cologne Natatorium ltd. and the German Sport University. I want to thank all of them for the amazing team work. The competitions are mainly taking place in their facilities. The cooperation amongst the different departments will prove the image of Cologne as the place to be for any kind of sport for more than 10,000 active sportsmen and women.”

Scholarhips

Through scholarship programs, Cologne and the Federation of Gay Games are working to increase participation from Eastern Europe, as well as from countries that have limited LGBT sports infrastructure or that have been underrepresented in the Gay Games movement. More than 200 athletes and artists have already been granted scholarships, three-fourths from Eastern Europe, and a campaign has been established to raise funds to bring more athletes from countries such as Mexico, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Pakistan and the Philippines. Donations can be made online at www.gaygames.com.

About Gay Games VIII
